"After only two albums, could Adele’s career have already been on the line?

There must have been considerable worrying surrounding the vocal ability of the 23-year-old British singer-songwriting sensation as she went under the knife, receiving scheduled surgery on her throat.

The good news for all concerned is that she’s expected to make a full recovery from sinister-sounding “vocal cord microsurgery.” The Grammy winner had the procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, performed by Dr. Steven Zeitels, head of the Voice Center, who has previously operated on Steven Tyler.

The operation should stop recurrent bleeding and prevent possible rupture from a benign polyp. And that will come as a relief, considering that in October she had to scrap her remaining concert dates and appearances for the rest of the year. ”If I continue to pick up everything before I have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud, I will be totally and utterly f___,” she said on her blog recently. “Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job.”

Adele had already told fans that she’s given up smoking and drinking to save her voice. If cursing remains her only vice, it will hopefully mean that we can continue to enjoy her more soulful words on record and in person."

"Not everyone is jumping for joy over the upcoming feature film The Muppets.

The Muppets' anticipated collective return to the big screen this Thanksgiving has been touted as triumphant, historic, a long-awaited chance to re-reintroduce the iconic puppets to the masses. There have been teaser trailers, magazine spreads and more.

And at first glance, the elements seem to have coalesced for the beloved troupe. Although the first official trailer included a "These are the Muppets" text announcement (as if they needed introduction), the rest of it dutifully incorporated the franchise's signature blend of slapstick, parody and heartfelt mutual adoration.

But these clips and other elements of the film have given insiders (former puppeteers, writers, die-hard fans) fear that the newest film, the first to hit theaters since 1999's Muppets from Space, doesn't stay true to what the Muppets are all about.

The newest film was written by Jason Segel, a self-proclaimed Muppets fanatic.  Segel and Amy Adams are the human stars of the film, a small-town couple that travels to Hollywood to reunite the now-acrimonious Muppets.

That plot point concerns some Muppet aficionados. For instance, the Muppets, depicted in the script as jealous of Kermit's wealth, would not have bitterly broken up. The script "creates a false history that the characters were forced to act out for the sake of this movie," an old Muppets hand told The Hollywood Reporter.

A passing-gass scene also sounds authenticity alarms.  "We wouldn't do that; it's too cheap," added another Muppets veteran. "It may not seem like much in this world of [Judd] Apatow humor, but the characters don't go to that place."

Regardless of Apatow and a Segel's multiple collaborations, it's probably good that he dusted some mothballs off of the franchise.  Unfortunately, in a post-Shrek era, a movie that wants to embrace both children and adults in the way that the original Muppet Show did has to stoop a little lower at times.

Even before Jim Henson's death from pneumonia in 1990 at just 53, the Muppet name was fading from recognition.  A visionary of similar proportions to Steve Jobs, it was up to his loyal staff to keep his unique vision as vibrant as possible—it was seen through somewhat unevenly, but it certainly (and clearly) did not curb Muppet enthusiasm. And that's why so much pressure lies on the newest film and reason for insiders to fear for its future."

Lady Gaga's Story Might Become a Lifetime Movie

"We're not sure how we feel about this, but there's no denying it's happening: Lifetime is developing “Fame Monster: The Lady Gaga Story,” a made-for-TV biopic about the star.

The story is apparently going to focus more on her start, rather than her current reign, according a casting notice for the lead role, which says the film will cover her from ages 16 to 22. Deadline reports that the script is being written by Norman Snider (Casino Jack) and is based on the book Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga, written by Maureen Callahan of the New York Post in 2010.

Gaga, of course, is not involved in this venture at all, so whether or not the movie will even feature her music is unknown. We're not sure how she would react to her life being shaped by the sob-story factory over at Lifetime, but the tone of the film is reportedly going to be an uplifting “love letter” to the performer.

The romanticized version of her story is made-for-TV perfection: a born-and-raised New York girl from a close, well-adjusted family dreams of becoming a singer. Reportedly bullied in high school, she chases her dream at NYU, singing folksy tunes in coffee shops and bars. Eventually she drops out to pursue her music, gets adopted into the underground life of burlesque-type shows and starts parading around in her bra and panties with Lady Starlight, much to the dismay of her modest Italian Catholic father. Fast forward to some down days with drugs, dropped record deals, and the climactic turning-point of the movie—a dramatic scene in which Gaga's boyfriend tells her she'll never succeed.

"In its 23rd year on TV, "The Simpsons" could be on the endangered species list.

The show's producer said Tuesday the show can't continue under its current financial model, following a report that big pay cuts are being sought for the actors who provide voices for Homer, Marge and Bart Simpson and other characters.

"We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model," said Chris Alexander, spokesman for 20th Century Fox Television. He said producers hope a deal can be reached.

The animated series is a fixture on Fox's Sunday night schedule, and critics consider it one of the best shows in the medium. But like many programs that have been on the air for a long time, the cost of making it has become prohibitive.

The Fox network reportedly loses money each year on new episodes, even as all the old episodes run in perpetuity in reruns and are a cash cow for producers and creators.

The Daily Beast reported Tuesday that producers are demanding a 45 percent pay cut from the six voice actors, who reportedly make nearly $8 million each for a season. The website said the voice actors have offered to take a 30 percent pay in return for a portion of the show's syndication and merchandise revenue.

Allan Mayer, a spokesman for one of the show's voice actors, Harry Shearer, said he had no comment on the talks. The manager for Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson, told The Associated Press she didn't know about the negotiations, and creator Matt Groening didn't immediately return a phone call.

"The Simpsons" is averaging 7.1 million viewers for its new episodes this fall, down 14 percent from last year. Back in the 1991-92 season, an average of 21.7 million people watched it every week, Nielsen said.

The median age of the show's viewers back two decades ago was 23, and this season it is still very young for a TV show - 32, Nielsen said. That's an indication of how the show has regenerated its audiences as the years go by.  (...)"

"Forbes' top-paid television actresses list proves ABC's Housewives aren't desperate for money.

Whoever called the number 13 unlucky didn't bookend it with a dollar sign and six zeros. Tina Fey and Eva Longoria top Forbes' list of the highest-paid television actresses on Tuesday, with each raking in $13 million for their TV gigs between May 2010 and May 2011.

Fey, star as well as head writer and producer of 30 Rock, has made bank on her show that was inspired by her days as SNL head writer. Though never a ratings smash, its fiercely loyal fans and syndication deal have turned it into a profitable cultural touchstone for the yuppie-hipster crowd. The show is also something of a family affair — Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, composed the show's zippy theme song.

 Tied for the top spot is Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, who supplements her healthy paycheck with lucrative endorsement deals with L'Oreal and LG. This pushed her ahead of her Housewives costars Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman, who also made the list.
Forbes came up with their earnings estimates (which are gross earnings and don't account for things like agent and manager fees) by talking to lawyers, producers and agents in the know to find out what each star made per episode, from any syndication deals and from endorsements.

To put these numbers in perspective, the top three women in movies earned nearly as much ($88 million) as the top 10 TV actresses combined ($94 million).

"Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber gave girlfriend Selena Gomez a surprise by treating her with a private screening of the blockbuster 'Titanic'. 

After attending friend Demi Lovato's concert at the Nokia Theatre, 17-year-old Bieber escorted his girlfriend through an underground tunnel to the neighbouring Staples Center for a private screening of the multiple award winning film, reported TMZ online.

And to top it all off, the 'Baby' hitmaker didn't have to spend anything because he performed three sold-out shows at the arena before. Also, there weren't any events going on. 

Although, the date wasn't completely Bieber's idea. He drew some inspiration from a different movie, Adam Sandler's romantic comedy 'Mr Deeds'. In the movie Sandler's character romances Winona Ryder on a date at New York's Madison Square Garden."
